With Tower One Porta Diagonal, a new landmark for sustainable building construction is being built in Barcelona. The almost 100-meter high building with 25 floors above ground and 3 underground floors is part of the new business and service park in the historic Finestrelles district. The district comprises a total of around 234,800 m², of which Tower One Porta Diagonal with its roof area of 90,000 m² makes a significant contribution.
The project, designed by the architecture firm Batlleiroig, creates a green oasis with green terraces around the building that combines sustainability and urban planning quality. The client is CORPORUM INVESTMENTS, and the implementation is carried out by UTE Tower One.
There is a particular focus on construction: Unidome XS void former elements are integrated into a total of 19,552.80 m² of concrete ceilings. The voided slab provides significant savings and benefits:
In addition, the void former modules used optimize the foundation, improve load-bearing behavior in the event of earthquakes, enable large spans and reduce ceiling deformation. Construction site logistics also benefits: The use of Unidome concrete shapers saves 121 truck deliveries, which speeds up construction and significantly reduces construction site traffic.
With the use of Unidome void former technology in Tower One Porta Diagonal, it is shown how modern high-rise buildings can make an active contribution to climate protection and sustainable construction through material efficiency, lightweight construction and CO₂ reduction.
We would like to thank all project partners and warmly congratulate David Saiz (Unidome Spain) on this pioneering milestone.
