September 2021: Unidome deployment starts at new GEMÜ headquarters

NEW HEADQUARTERS FOR GEMÜ — EFFICIENT CONSTRUCTION THANKS TO UNIDOME CONCRETE SHAPER TECHNOLOGY

The world market leader in the field of valve, process and control technology, the company GEMÜ Gebr. Müller Apparatebau GmbH & Co. KG, gets a new, future-oriented headquarters at the Kupferzell location. The equally high-quality and sustainable building, designed by the architecture firm Schmelzle+Partner, reflects the company's open corporate culture and modern way of working. Spacious open-space offices create a transparent work environment with a high level of user comfort and optimal conditions for teamwork.

A central element of the new building is the innovative Unidome voided slab, which is realized in the form of a flat slab with large spans. With this structural solution, lean, column-free floor plans can be renovated — crucial for flexible room concepts and sustainable architecture. The Unidome concrete shaper modules used specifically displace concrete in places where it is not statically required. The result is a lightweight but highly durable construction that combines numerous advantages: material efficiency, CO₂ reduction, resource conservation and economic efficiency.

With this project alone, Unidome technology can save over 500 m³ of concrete, around 1,250 tons of dead weight and around 100 tons of CO₂ emissions. This not only means significant relief for foundations, but also significant savings in materials, transport and construction time. The Unidome voided slab enables uniform load distribution in two directions, ensures greater sustainability in concrete construction and supports the implementation of modern construction methods such as precast slabs, semi-precast slabs and in-situ concrete solutions.

Another advantage: The Unidome elements serve as lost formwork and remain permanently in the component — an efficient and economical solution that has become established in international construction. With the combination of lightweight construction, resource savings and CO₂ reduction, this project sends a strong signal for sustainable construction with concrete.

We would like to thank all partners involved in the construction:
