Sustainability and concrete construction (semi-prefabricated concrete elements) — how do they fit together in the future?
We at the Unidome Group have this key question together with our partner fdu picked up. On Monday, March 17, 2025, Dr. Karsten Pfeffer (Unidome) and Dirk Schinke (fdu) gave a technical presentation in Voerde on the future of construction and the potential of sustainable semi-prefabricated element slabs.
The focus was on innovative Unidome void former technology for element slabs. Targeted concrete displacement with concrete shapers makes it possible to achieve concrete savings, CO₂ reductions and significant load reductions — without sacrificing load-bearing capacity and safety. Using examples from construction site practice as well as planning and design scenarios, it was impressively shown how great the advantages are over classic solid slabs.
The combination of material efficiency, climate protection and practical implementation makes the Unidome voided slab a pioneering solution for precast construction.
A big thank you to Robert Smycek and the Bau Kollegium Rhein-Ruhr e.V. for the excellent organization of this event.
